Easter Event
The Connells Maple Lee Flowers & Gifts Kids Club raised $200 for Save the Children’s earthquake relief efforts in Haiti and Chile. The kids club held a public event March 27 at its stores in Bexley, Grove City and Powell. Seventy-one children between the ages of 5 and 12 participated and had an opportunity to create and take home a Bunny Mum character. There was no charge to participate, but a $5 donation per child was requested, with all proceeds benefiting the nonprofit Save the Children.
Celebrate Freedom Event
The Connells Maple Lee Kids Club put the "free" in freedom as it helped to celebrate Independence Day with a no-cost event. Children between the ages of 5 and 12 had the opportunity to make a red, white and blue mug arrangement that came with two wearable patriotic pins. Participants also will received a free balloon. The free event took place at each of our four Columbus-area stores.
Make a Mum Character
The kids club’s St. Patrick’s Day event took place at our Grove City store. Participants got to make a leprechaun mum character in a bud vase and received a free balloon.
Bouquets for Books 2008
“Bouquets for Books,” took place Nov. 10-15 and collected over 1000 books for local libraries. Customer received a free bouquet if they brought in a new children’s book to any Connell’s store. We then presented the books to local libraries.
Halloween Event
In the spirit of the season, the Connells Maple Lee Flowers & Gifts Kids Club held a free Halloween event on Oct. 25 at its central design center in Grove City. Children were encouraged to wear their Halloween costumes to the event, which included an opportunity to make a floral arrangement, as well as face painting, pumpkin carving and cookie decorating. Other activities included a coloring contest and a raffle for a free gift. All participants received a free kids club balloon.
Field Trips
We welcome school visits to our four Columbus-area stores, as well as our distribution center in Grove City. Students will learn a little bit about Connells and a whole lot about what it’s like to work in a flower shop. We’ll explain how flowers get from a farm in South America to our distribution center, and from a Connells store to your home. These are pictures from various field trips.
Mother's Day 2008 Event
Just in time for Mother’s Day, 29 children joined the Royer’s Kids Club April 12 for an opportunity to make an arrangement using silk flowers. Participants also received a free kids club balloon.
1st Kids Club Event
More than 20 of you – some wearing your Halloween costumes – joined us Oct. 27 for the first Connells Kids Club event in Grove City. Participants had a chance to decorate and carve pumpkins, decorate trick-or-treat bags (which we were happy to fill with candy) and tour our coolers. We also offered face painting, a coloring contest (with an opportunity to win free flowers for the winners’ classrooms), and a drawing to win a digital camera. Of course, everyone took home a kids club balloon.
